Aging stops at 28 for Colon
Tribe gets official documentation on pitcher, insists his performance, not his birth date, is what counts
By Sheldon Ocker

WINTER HAVEN, FLA. - Official papers stamped by the government of the Dominican Republic set the record straight on Bartolo Colon's age, and it doesn't get any better than that.
The Indians received Colon's birth certificate and new passport that show his age at (drum roll, please) 28, making him two years older than listed in the Tribe's records.

Could have been worse. But it still isn't welcome news.

Once it became an issue, I would have loved for Bartolo himself to have said how old he was BEFORRRRRE the "official count" was in.
I wonder if he knew.

Are you sure you're convinced that he's only 28? I have little confidence in even "offically stamped" Dominican birth certificates. I still have a funny feeling that 30 may be closer to the truth.

I would like to hear Bart say how old he is.
I'd also hope someone investigates how old Manny Ramirez is.
Perhaps he was held back a year or two in his elementary school years.
